Opinions on my Freshmen Schedule?

Hey everyone, I am a rising DA Kelley freshmen and Hudson Holland Scholar and I am wondering what you all think about my planned schedule. Just for a little background info, I already placed out of my N&M and S&H requirement so I'm just worrying about the 2 class A&H and the 2 class World Culture requirement of the Kelley degree. Main focus this semester is to get at the very least 3.7 gpa to get into Hutton.

Does anyone know of a easy class that double dips into the A&H and World Culture requirement? I was looking throughout the forum trying to see if anyone mentioned a course, if there is such a thing as a "easy" one.

1st semester- (13 credits total)
The Computer in Business BUS-K201
Topics in Business BUS-X255 (Required KLLC Class)
Current Issues in Undergraduate Life EDUC-U212 (Required Hudson Holland Class)
Finite Mathematics MATH-M118
Survey in Hip Hop FOLK-E295 (My planned course to get 3 credits for A&H)

And would it be okay if I could add another class in maybe? 13 credits seems on the low side, but I am coming in with 32 credits.

Thank you so much :)

With all your credits coming in, 14 credits seems like enough, especially if you are trying to get a high gpa. 14 will give you more time for extracurricular activities. U212 won’t be very challenging, but it will probably keep you kind of busy and is an easy A. Congrats on getting into HHSP.

If you are trying to get into Hutton, you might consider dropping finite (take it second semester or at a cc in summer) and substituting an easy grading A&H. And maybe dropping Hip Hop and taking one of the classes below that are easy grading and double count. Save your hard grading classes/more rewarding classes/more interesting classes for after you get into Hutton, which will give you much more to choose from. Also, when in Hutton, you will be eligible sophomore year for easier grading versions/much smaller sections of X201 Technology and A207 Managerial Accounting, and honors microeconomics, depending on who is teaching it. You will have no trouble getting into these classes with all of the credits you are coming in with; you just have to make sure you get into Hutton first, so make that your primary goal.

**You definitely need one more credit if you are trying to get into Hutton. It takes 14 credits Fall semester.[\b]

Maybe take a one-credit HPER class the second eight weeks, such as A483, Intro to Basketball Officiating, if you like basketball. Almost a sure A. The classes below grade pretty easy.

Survey in Hip Hop FOLK-E295 won’t double-count.

These classes have openings, high grading with the same professors from recent semesters, and double count for A&H and World Cultures:

Thank you so much bthomp1 for your advice. I have switched Survey to Hip Hop to Religions of Asia for the double requirement and will look to add one more one credit class to get to the required 14 credit minimum to apply for Hutton. Without your insight I definitely would have been going through the fall semester only with 13 credits.

Thank you again! :)
