I don’t know the differences between English 3 Honors and World Lit. Honors, so I can’t really weigh in on that.
Is there more room for additonal classes/electives later on in junior/senior year?
AP Comp Sci fits really well with his interests, but it will always be there, so there’s not a lot of rush to take it 10th grade. Unless, he feels he’s really ready, able to balance the 2 AP’s, and wants to take it.
I think there’s something to be said for continuity on a transcript, so in my personal opinion, I think Leadership 2 would be good. Would he plan on taking it all 4 years?
Which is your son more interested in studying. Which will help him become the most competent and well educated adult in areas he feels are meaningful? I am not sure how people on this site could possibly determine that. This is the kind of decision making that is best done by the student!
@alison16 There will be room for more electives in junior and senior year. He was thinking possibly junior year taking AP Stats as well as Calculus Junior year so 1 would be an elective.
@lostaccount AS stated. he intends on majoring in computer science. That said both AP computer science AND Leadership would be meaningful…thus the question.
2 maths junior year would be a lot, but I bet math is a favorite/easy subject. I still think that it’s best to make room for AP Comp Sci later on either junior or senior year. If it would be really hard to do that, then take the Comp Sci for sophomore year. Best of luck in HS to him!!
I agree that continuity is important, so I’d say Leadership for sophomore year, AP CS junior year - more important than AP stats. AP stats is important if you’re never going to take another math class but your son should take College statistics (in college), which is a more math-rigorous version of AP Stats. Of course he could take AP stats in order to have a “lighter” course during a heavy year.
