I started college at a tiny LAC with about 400 students in the middle of nowhere. It drove me crazy, so after a year I transferred to a huge university with 40,000 students.

I ended up leaving after a semester to work because there wasn't really a community, the classes weren't challenging me, and I felt like a tiny insignificant speck in the bureaucracy of the institution.

During my time off, I've realized that I'd be much happier somewhere in the middle, maybe a few thousand students. I was actually accepted to Reed College and I secretly wish I'd chosen it over the big university.

If I were to transfer again, I'd be applying to fairly selective schools, which is why I'm so worried about how I "look" on an application.

Here are my stats:
• First college GPA: 3.7
• Second college GPA: 4.0
• SAT: 2200

Is it a lot more difficult to transfer twice? Am I killing my chances of being accepted by appearing super flaky?

Would it be better to finish out my sophomore year at my current school and enter as a junior elsewhere, or could I just apply as a second semester sophomore?

Thanks for the help!
