Hi!
I go to a school that offers IB (and I am an international student). However, for some reason, I am planning to do AP through self-study and IB certificate and obviously my High School course. I wish to do Mechanical Engineering.

My AP subjects: Physics C: Mechanics[2009], Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism [2009], Chemistry [2009], Macroeconomics [2009], Microeconomics [2009], Calculus BC [2010].

My IB certificate subjects: Physics HL, Mathematics HL, Chemistry HL, Economics HL, Bahasa Indonesia (foriegn language) SL.

How is this? Do Universities overlook IB certificate and only look for the word 'Diploma' in front of IB? Are 5 APs enough?

I do not qualify for APID nor do I qualify for IB diploma. Thus, the only diploma I will have at the end of 2 years will be my high school diploma (a course affiliated with CBSE).

Please give your comments regarding my courses in terms of college perspective.

Best regards.

The single most important thing in college admissions is your high school transcript. That means, the courses that you take, and the grades that you earn in those courses. You do not have to complete a full IB diploma, because when the admissions officers look at your transcripts they will see the courses that you have taken.
