When I was in SS, we were told that we could take the jump program, soaring program, and space program between our C4C and C3C years.

I’m really interested in space and missile command, so I want to take the space program.
But I also want to do the jump program.

Can I take both? I know I can’t at the same time, but if I wanted to take one after my C4C year and after my C3C year, would that be OK?

Space is only during that summer. Jump is then and firstie year. Soaring is then and 3 dig year. Space is usually a program that people wanting jump/soaring get stuck with if they are on probation and what not, its not a sought after program,

But if I wanted to do space (since space would be my major), I could since the space program is the only thing available after freshman year?

Why don’t people want the space program? I think I would take jump over space if I absolutely had to (it’s more fun) but I think space would help me with my major.

It won’t help with your major. Wait till you get to the academy and you’ll learn all about the programs. Patience.

Space jump and soaring are all available after 4dig year (along with BCT prep), but you can not do the space program any year after your first summer. Your 3 dig and possibly 2 dig year you can do soaring, and you have to wait until firstie year to get jumping if you do not jump your first summer. like hornet said, it has nothing to do with being an astro major.

So what’s the point of the space program if it’s not designed for those going into the space related field?

As a filler for all the people that weren’t qualified enough to get jump and soaring.

so people can call themselves space cadets! or we can call them that… or i can call them that… :D

Is it possible to take space and jump, or are they at the same time?

Also, is SERE taken during 4dig summer?

no it is not possible for you to take both space and jump. Yes CST/SERE is taken 4 dig summer.

One could take space after 4 dig year, then jump as a firstie…if the schedules worked out.

When I took space, it was pretty worthless TBH…cadet space wings = “probation wings” because 90% of the people in space were on probation when they were assigned their summer program.

Long story short: go for jump, space is a joke.

Could I take jump my 4dig year and soaring my 3dig?

I take it almost all cadets that aren’t on probation of some kind either do Jump or Soaring?

yes matt, that is usually the case.

and yes, you can take jump 4 deg summer and soaring over the academic year.

Nice. I’m already looking forward to 4dig summer haha.

Don’t forget that you have Basic, four dig year, Recognition, GE, and CST to worry about first. Eyes on the prize though, I like that.

lol, PETKO, you would encourage jump of all things of course. ;)

Absolutely! There’s no finer program at the Academy than AM-490 (except, of course, for AM-491/492 and 496 (WoG/WoB)).
