OPUS Admissions Deposit Link: Accepted?

I noticed in my daughter's OPUS, in the admissions section, there is now a link for making an admissions deposit. When I click on that, her name is at the top and there is a bill and online payment window with details. Is this something everyone has on OPUS just because you have applied? We have received no email indicating RD acceptance. Or is this possibly an error, or a preliminary clue that she's accepted?

That's a good question, as it's the same for me. Can anyone else get on OPUS and see what it says?

ours is the same, so maybe they just do them en masse regardless of whether you are accepted or not?

So, I wonder what would happen if you tried to make a deposit?
Maybe a pop-up window saying; sorry, this deposit cannot be accepted at this time.

The same thing happened for me too and my name shows up at the top. I'm really anxious now to know how many people have this to verify whether it is really a subtle clue that you have been admitted. It's really cool that someone noticed this.

I think you are onto something. I don't have that.

Where does the Deposit link appear for you?

I'm assuming you're RD. Is that correct?

So far, we're 4 out of 4. So maybe it's an en masse thing. If it is, without regard to acceptance or not, it's a confusing little teaser that would seem to get someone's hopes up when there might not be a deposit to be made if one is denied. So, if anyone DOES NOT have the deposit link, please report!

If you log on to OPUS, then click on the Admissions link, on the bottom right side of the page, there is a link which says: "Pay Your Admissions Deposit Online!"

Yes, she's regular decision.

EmoryUNCDuke:

I do not have that link under the Admissions section.

Look at Screen1.gif in my previous post.

it may have to due with when you applied. i just got a confirmation a few days ago - i haven't been on OPUS yet.

I looked at your screen. It is missing the link to the deposit payment, which has my daughter's name at the top, a bill for $450, and places to fill in bank routing and account numbers.

This is really weird. I woudln't think they would put your name at the top if you were not going to get accepted. Then again they could. But very nice observation EmoryUNCDuke. Hope your Daughter did get accepted. Wish her the best of luck. :) :) :)

Some possible explanations, in order of likelihood:

The obvious: it indicates that you've been accepted. Occam's Razor says this is the most likely reason.

An admissions officer has confirmed that your application is complete.

It indicates that your application has been reviewed and a decision has been made, whether positive or negative.

It indicates that a financial aid award has been decided on (thus they have an account open for your tuition).

Confirmation of what? And how? If you were RD and you sent in your application by the Jan. 15 deadline, you would have been mailed your letter with your OPUS id and password...or you can also go to the network ID section of the Emory computing web site, type in your birthdate and SS number, and it will come up. Then, tell us what you see when you get on to OPUS, click admissions, and see if there is a link for paying a deposit. Thanks.

Do you have a message on your "To Do List" that says your application is complete?

I got the same thing! This is exciting! Congrats every1, I think. lol

EmoryUNCDuke:
"Undergraduate Admission Office - Admissions Application Complete"

Looks like theory #2 is out.

Congrats, guys!

5 out of 6...I'm not getting any hopes up too much. My daughter is certainly low key about it. We would still have to figure out if Emory would really be worth about $xx,xxx more than UNC (accepted).

I also wouldn't assume that just because you have no link sabnetwork that you have been denied. Or anyone for that matter. It's only March 2 and I'm sure they are working furiously through thousands of applications and meeting in little committees about all this. They will probably do well to get RD's out by April 1 in the mail. I would really be surprised if they are posting obvious admission teasers this early....
