Just a heads-up, in case anyone else has been relying on a reservation there for graduation 2007: I just learned that the confirmation letters they will send out in November will inform you that your reservation will require a three-night minimum stay. By November, there will be no other options available, and you will be stuck paying for three nights, whether or not you can actually take the extra day off (or even want to).

Since I stay there frequently, first put my name in for 2007 3 years ago, and confirmed it just last fall, I am quite ticked off about this little bait-and-switch, and will be staying at the new HoJo's down the road instead (there are already almost no rooms left in the area for June 1-2!) Many accomodations in the W-town area require 2 or 3 night stays on special weekends, but they generally put it on their website and/or inform you of the policy at the time you put your name in. Not so at the Orchards. Just FYI

That is frustrating driver. I don't think there usually are many graduation events on Friday so the 3 nights doesn't make a lot of sense for many. Where is the new HoJo's? Always good to know about new Williamstown lodging options.

If the new HoJo's is the one that is the recently "renovated" Four Acres Motel, it's about a mile and a half towards North Adams on Rt. 2. My son and I stayed there in mid-July when we visited Williams, and it was not very nice at all, and we don't have particularly high standards. I think the renovations were not quite complete, so perhaps they've been working some more. It's certainly shelter from the elements and a convenient distance from the college. If you go with low expectations, you probably won't be disappointed. That said, I'd probably stay there again for the convenience, if there were nothing else available nearby.

NC:
Yes, that's the one. They've jacked the price way up for graduation, too, as do most of the places. We're going up Friday afternoon in order to have dinner with a couple of other families and their graduating kids. Saturday we'll wander around campus, attend a few events, and then have a big family dinner in town. Graduation on Sunday is over at around noon, so we plan to grab quick lunch at the reception at Morty's afterward and then hit the road. In order to meet the three-day we'd have to arrive Thursday night, or stay Sunday and miss work on Monday. I really don't get their thinking--I won't stay there again, and I'll be making at least two more trips up there before graduation.

Hopefully we'll be too busy to be disappointed in our digs. At least, if recently renovated, Hojo should be clean???? Anyway, there really is nothing left in town for that weekend--I tried 'em all. Which is why I'm so annoyed with my good buddies at The Orchards.

Speaking of new places, Jr, my parents stayed at the re-opened Le Jardin this spring and really liked it. Very nice rooms, furnishings, and they said the restaurant was good too.
