Orders

it is a back ground check for the USNR

So does the USNR come in a different packet? I don't see anything for that in the admissions orders or the medical packet.

Maybe I'm just missing something, but after looking through my forms, I didn't see anything regarding fingerprints. Where would that particular form be found in the packet?

go here to download the EPSQ (Electronic Personnel Security Questionnaire) program <a href="https://sclient.dss.mil/download/%5B/url%5D">https://sclient.dss.mil/download/</a>
install, then run it and answer the questions. Save the results to a disk and, bring it to Indoc.. If my fading memory serves me that's how my son did it.. That was 6 years ago so things might be a bit different. I'm sure the KP Naval Science department can assist you with any questions you may have.. give them a call. As I recall the fingerprint cards (FD form 258) were in his candidate packet.. If you didn't get them you should be able to obtain them from a local military base or recruiter. You might try the post office too.

Just tried that, but it is not for any of the new windows operating systems, Not XP or Vista compatiable....maybe they will have a new one for that.

it worked for me and I'm running Vista...

Which version of Windows did you check? I don't want to mess up and download the wrong thing. I'm running Vista Home

it shows up in like windows 3.0 or 95 something like that, but it'll run.

download the file for Windows versions 95, 98, NT or 2000. It should still run with Vista.

What if you don't have Windows to operate the software?

I see no mention of needing fingerprints in any of the packets we have received, nor anything about the EPSQ, just that he should bring it on a disk. Strange.

ok got it...hope I downloaded the correct one. I used Security Edition....was this the right one? I can't find reference to this anywhere in the papers my son received.

I think you need the EPSQ Subject Edition ver. 2.2 as opposed to the Security Officer Edition..
When you get here on the website: <a href="https://sclient.dss.mil/cgi-bin/epsq/download/dnslookup.pl%5B/url%5D">https://sclient.dss.mil/cgi-bin/epsq/download/dnslookup.pl</a>

choose:
(2) "New" Installation to a Stand-Alone PC or LAN Server:
Installing a "brand new" 2.2 version of either the Security Officer and/or Subject Edition on your computer or LAN? Select the Edition(s) of your choice.

THANKS! You are correct....geeze need a class in Security Clearance 101!

Can anyone tell me where is says in the Orders information packet that you have to provide finger prints? I have not been able to find this requirment.

I gotta admit, I didn't see either the fingerprinting or security stuff.. but maybe it was because we were looking so hard at the medical, finding original SSN card, and thankful that passport was still current....
And getting updated shot record, and arranging dentist visit ...

He still has wisdom teeth -- uppers aligned great, lowers will have to come out: so, puffy cheeks for Prom? for Graduation? or for the puny 3 weeks between end of class and beginning of the relaxing spa-filled lolling around basking in the sun... otherwise known as INDOC ( ok, that last bit was a bit sarcastic-- glad I'M not the one having to do it).

The fingerprints were to be put on a small card maybe 5 X 8, If I remember correctly,(remembering from several years ago). Maybe 2011 doesn't have to do them, that'd be helpful!

I talked to Lt Schoggers from the academy tonight at a local function and asked her about the finger print thing. She wasn't aware of any requirement.

The Dept. of Naval Science sends some forms/requirements separate from the logging in instructions. Thats where the finger printing & EPSQ along with the Naval Reserve application "used" to be. I dunno. I'd look for more paper work on the way. Remember.... Paperwork is fun! :D

Thank goodness I grew up in DC area and in a government & military family or I would be going insane with the Paperwork!!! Paperwork is our friend ;)
