Oregon State is one of my top choices, but I have a few concerns.
-
How can the engineering department have a 100% acceptance rate? Are they screening people or somehow manipulating numbers?
-
Why is the pre-medical shadowing program only open to juniors and seniors? That seems way too late to start shadowing. Why is admission into the program “highly competitive?” (http://www.science.oregonstate.edu/node/129)
-
How difficult is it to find shadowing opportunities outside of the school’s own program? I’m particularly interested in shadowing surgeons and radiologists and I’m worried about Corvallis’s small size.
-
How difficult is it to get into research as a freshman? I know there will be no hand-holding, but are the professors generally open to letting freshmen help with research?
Thank you! Any other comments on OSU’s pre med opportunities would also be greatly appreciated.
