I'm planning to take 140A with O'Connor this coming fall quarter, but there's a short wait list at the moment. Will I get into one of his discussion sections if I'm #3 on the wait list?

Thanks.

Quite likely.

I am in the same boat :[ Does anyone know if discussions for O’Connor’s 140A Ochem class are mandatory? Can we switch between sections?

if youre around 3 or so you will probably get in. His sections arent mandatory, but you cannot go to other sections…at least when i took him.

This was his syllabus section from spring 09
“SECTIONS: The sections run by TAs are to give you the opportunity to have your questions answered in an informal setting. The TAs have no formal presentations and will give no quizzes, tests, or other graded assignments; they are there to respond to your questions. TAs will not be available on the day following an exam. Additional help may be obtained during your TA’s office hours, which will be announced in Section. You may only attend the TA section for which you are officially enrolled.”

Yes
I will be very surprised if you don’t
And about the sections, you can go to different section if you want to
the syllabus just says that to prevent overcrowding
no one is gonna kick you out
sections are kinda waste of time anyways
office hours are more efficient
