How hard is organic chemistry for freshman? Since freshman are taking it, is it easier compared to the regular organic chem course (e.g. curved)?

Just an educated guess here. All of the science classes my kid has taken at Columbia have been curved so even if the content is the same the class would be all freshman and not upper classmen. BUT the students who choose to take the very top level chem and physics classes freshman year are beyond talented in that field. MANY will drop to a lower level class during the semester so for those who stay the curve situation only gets tougher because the less strong students are gone. If you are trying to maximize GPA regular orgo is probably an easier way to do that because the class will be bigger, people can’t really drop down a level, and it’s a more mixed group of students rather than the very top of the Chem majors.
