We checked my son’s Buckeye link and noticed that he is now able to register for his orientation date. We were able to register him except for the part about securing his housing. We filled out the form but when we hit the submit button we got an internal server error. We’ll try that part again tomorrow and hope that works. It’s definitely starting to feel “real”.
I got the same thing
Is anyone getting 500 Internal Server Error after chosing meal and housing package?
Yes it happened to us last night and again this morning. Was planning to call or email about it when I had a moment.
Looks like it is working now.
I love College Confidential! Thank you @adlgel for the heads up! D just registered. We couldn’t get the orientation housing link to work on Google Chrome (maybe it was the pop-up blocker?) but switched over to Internet Explorer and that worked. For anyone curious, the first 2 orientation dates that were open were June 8-9 and June 14-15.
I am a Public Affairs major in ACE Scholars- and I won’t be available for any of the dates applicable to my major (working full time weekdays June 18 - August 5, except for 4th of July)… do any of you know whether I can schedule a different date?
OSU office hours line up exactly with my school day, so I’ve sent off an e-mail- just in case, though…
@freezycool I would assume OSU is able to accomodate you in one of the other sessions. I don’t know exactly what the schedule is so it’s hard to know how specific these sessions are to the major or school. We found the dates online before my son had to sign his summer work contract for his camp counselor job and specifically had him NOT sign up to work at camp the week of 6/21 to keep that availlable for orientation. But he’s also in the Exploratory Students session which has a ton of available dates.
I assume the vast majority of students will be staying in the overnight housing even if they have parents staying locally in a hotel (as we will be since it’s an 8 hour drive for us). I’m curious to see what the schedule of the session is as it’s not clear to me to what extent, if at all, parents can participate.
This is when we schedule classes? Or what?
I’m not entirely sure what occurs during orientation. I know that one of the things that is done is a language placement test but other than that can’t speak to any specifics.
You may already have the tentative schedule but here is what is on the OSU website:

Our OOS D attended the scholars orientation last year. Students get their BuckIds, meet with their advisor, and register for classes. We also set up a Huntington bank account while there. Huntington has ATMs all over campus and a few branches as well. Students can add money to their Buck IDs directly from the Huntington account, which is rather convenient-gives a little piece of mind to the parent of an OOS student. We got a hotel for two nights. She stayed with us the first night since that was our travel day, and then she stayed in the designated dorm the second night. My husband and I enjoyed a night out on High Street. It was a good time for everyone.
