Orientation Dates

So I finally paid my admissions and looked at the Orientation dates... The only days that they listed for me are all in June and because of the snow days (Im from the north) my graduation may have been pushed back into those days. What should I do?

I’d call or e-mail admissions and inform them of your situation ASAP

Are you sure your graduation would be extended past these dates:

6/21/10 - 6/23/10
6/22/10 - 6/24/10
6/23/10 - 6/25/10

?

If so, there is a really late orientation date in August, but you get the “leftovers” when it comes to course registration =/

Dnerd, getting “leftovers” is not necessarily true, from what I’ve heard…I’m going to the late orientation and I asked one of the online representatives if I would in fact have the worst choices of classes, but he said no, and that they reserve a certain amount for the people going to late orientation (hope it’s true! :))

foxfire, if you go, I’ll see you there! :D

Well I actually talked to Mr. Heaton and “leftovers” is the word he used lol

Hmm…not too good if a representative gives false info…hope the other info I learned was right =S

yea it might be pushed back that late. we wont know until mid april… alright.
Hey torioreo, when you find out what dorm you got in, let me know =]

Okey dokey  I applied for 3 learning communities, but I don’t know if I’ll get in them! I applied for Women in Math, Science, and Engineering, Pre-health professions LLC, and the Bryan Hall LLC. Did you apply for any?

nope, Landis Gilcrest Deviny and then Kellum… =/

its just that these dates are going to be really hard for me to make and now im all out of wack

Yeah it sucks! :frowning: I hope I get some decent-ish classes…and if I end up getting early ones, it would probably be easy to get a job…maybe XD I just hope my roommate isn’t a night owl o_O

I attended a late orientation my freshman year and I was able to register for all of the classes I needed. The downside is that the number of sections is a little smaller, so I had to take some classes that were earlier in the day than I would have liked, but it was only for one semester and then I was able to register earlier and get better selection. There is also a cool drop/add period and first day drop policy where if you see a class you want, but there are no seats open, you can go to that class and when they do roll call, there are usually students who don’t show and then you can take their spots and get added to the class. It’s a little stressful not knowing how registration will work out, but once you get here and meet the Orientation Leaders and academic advisers, you’ll feel at home and be ready to join the Seminole Family :)

Also…as far as the dates go, if you are a summer student, they range from May 17-28 and for fall students May 31-June 25 (I asked my friend who is an Orientation Leader). If you go to register for an orientation and none of the dates work for you, pick any of the dates, register, pay for it, wait 48 hours for the payment to clear and then call the office and they can move you to another orientation. Everyone has to go to Orientation so they are really cool about making sure you get in somewhere. Hope this helps!

Yes that was very helpful. thank you

I was accepted to FSU yesterday, and registered for everything the moment I saw congratulations. My orientation is late in the summer, on the 9th of July. Hopefully there will still be some classes left for my Economics major.

ask your high school counselor, because i know my high school had 3 days we could miss if we were going on a college tour

yea its just because of the massive amount of snow days we had, our graduation got pushed back so im trying to make sure that my orientation doesn’t clash with me walking…

can someone please list the dates?? for fall student

JP, the dates varies by majors I believe. Go to the register for orientation link on the status check page and from there, partially register so you can see the dates.

Take advantage of the search function :)

dnerd: thank you so much! and since all of them are three days, what do you on the last day? and what happen if you have to leave on the 2nd night
