Orientation - Full Program vs. One Day Program

^Great thanks.

...and so if you don't bring a laptop, you can just go to the computer lab, correct?

that should be the case

^Okay then, thanks!

ok so school starts around sept 23 i think rite? ..... soooo for pass 2 (sept 7) ... do you have to go back up to davis if your from southern california?

registration is done online. you can do it from your own home.

So I chose the Full Program option, and I have a question about the dorms (since it's a two-night stay)...

*How are roommates chosen?

*Can you request for a roommate DURING Orientation...and even AFTER you turned in the Housing Request Form?

I think roommates are randomly selected. It's not a big deal, since most of the time you'll be out of the room.

roomates are alphabetical. you cannot request a roomate for orientation.

Well can't you request one for the year to come (at Orientation)? I am planning to ask someone at Orientation to be my roommate for the year...lol....

lol, maybe that's why roommate had the same last name as me.

Deadline for making changes to the housing app is Aug 1st, I guess if you find someone, you can request them to be your roommate.

I was looking at the schedule and orientation seems really boring...

So from your experiences, on a scale of 1-10, what would you rate the Full Program Orientation days/activities...<10 being really exciting...>....

I signed up for the full program and I will be staying at the dorm for 2 nights, just to see what it's like. Anyone else staying too? Hope I'm not the only one.

Sorry I don't know where post edit button is but I'm in group 4(I was aiming for the engineer college but I misunderstood in the application last year, so I signed up for letters and science, which I thought was engineering). Anyone going in the same group.

You might want to switch to the college of engineering orientation groups, since they are slightly different, like the requirements and the handouts, also you will get to meet the adviser from your department. Just a thought, although going early means you get first dibs on classes...

Yeah I tried to change it to engineering but I can only do it after the first quarter into the school year, so I'm out of luck. I'm not allowed to change my major right now so I will have to just pick whatever classes in letters and science and get through the first quarter to change major. By the way, what is letters and science exactly anyway?

oh, I thought you meant you got in as an engineering major but signed up for college of letters and science orientation... you can actually take classes in other colleges, although there might be some restriction. there are different change of major requirements for each engineering department, and you'll have to meet them before you can switch. the list can be found here but it's currently under reviewhttp://engineering.ucdavis.edu/pages/currentstudents/advising/changemajor.html

Thanks for the link, however I still have to go to orientation with a letters and science group, not engineering right? They won't allow me to go with an engineering group. Also what is letters and science?

It seems that you have to go to orientation according to the college you were admitted to.

Letters and Science houses the Division of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies, Division of Social Sciences, Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, basically everything outside of engineering, biosci, and ag. Don't know how to explain...

that sucks that all the science majors have all the left over classes...

science majors generally have to take classes that no one else would want to take. And there are plenty of spaces available in those courses.
