Orientation Odysseys!

Hey!

Anyone care to comment on the significance of the "orientation odyssey," in terms of making friends, etc...

Do the vast majority of freshman participate?

They all look super fun, but I'm not sure my schedule allows...Is not attending one a "big deal"? (I'm not as insecure as I sound haha...just trying to get a feel for how "important" they are to the freshman experience)

Thanks guys!

I was waitlisted for every orientation odyssey, but it’s really not a big deal at all. Very few people become/remain good friends with the people they meet on the trip; most friends are made throughout the school year. You will meet tons of new people during orientation if you are the least bit outgoing, so don’t worry about the odyssey trips.

I can tell you that I’m not doing one…My parents and I are flying out to Portland on the 17th, but that’s so we can spend some time together before move-in day in a cottage on the coast. Shouldn’t be too big a deal. Lol like Zach said, the OOs aren’t the only chance to make friends :P

Though, quick question, when do we hear about things like academic advisers, dorm rooms, schedules etc? Does the college send stuff after the 15th?
