Orientation Question

Are classes on a first come first serve basis?
Like I know as a BME Engineering my course schedule for my first semester is already set in stone anyway, but I’m guessing there are different time slots. So do people who go to earlier orientations get the better time slots of their choice or does BU have it like some other schools (like UCSB) where they equally allocate a certain number of spots to each orientation group.

Reason being, I wanna spend the summer with my girlfriend but she’s going to Hawaii in mid July so I thought I’d get the orientation thing out of the way while she was in Hawaii. I don’t wanna get a ****ty freshman schedule just to spend 2 more days with my gf tho.

Yes, they’re based on first come first serve. Once a class fills it’s very unlikely you can get in unless you can get the professor to let you in. I’ve never tried before so I don’t know how hard it is to convince a teacher. People with earlier orientation times do get better slots since they get first pick on what time they want to have that class. Not to mention, if all the time slots for that class fill then you’re out of luck. Some classes only have one time slot too. Not to mention, all the upperclassmen already registered so if you’re looking to get into a class that’s popular with upperclassmen then you’re out of luck.

I’m going to the third session (there’s 7 sessions total), will I have to sign up for 8am classes or will a majority of classes still be open to me to choose from?
