How is the freshman class selection at the first few freshman orientations as compared to the last one right before class starts? It really would be more convenient for me to go to the last one when I move, but I also don’t want to have a terrible time selecting classes and then be unhappy my very first semester of college. Opinions?

You’ll definitely have more of a selection going to an earlier one, but they reserve spaces in some of the larger classes. Also, if you end up going to a later one, you might register over the phone earlier in the summer (I think).

I think you should go to the orientation that best works for you. We went to the first session because my son was going to be away for the whole summer. For those people who are coming long distance, I would assume the last session would be best because you can move into your actual rooms and not pay to travel so far twice. I really don’t think that it will affect your ability to take certain classes, if you come later.

when is the first possible frosh orientation?

Last year the first orientation was the 12th - 14th of June.
