S took one AP exam last week, has another tomorrow. Info from College Board says scores won't be released until July, but S's orientation and registration is set for June 7th. He had the USC placement exam in math and foreign language, but I'm wondering whether his registration for fall classes might be affected since his actual AP scores won't be in yet. Anyone had any experience with that?

We did last year. You register according to what you know at the time of registration, making sure to tell your adviser about your situation at orientation/registration. When you get your scores you can then go online and change courses accordingly. If a class is closed you must wait until the first week of classes and then can "sit in" on that class the first week and ask the professor for permission to be in that class/section.

My daughter did this the first semester after waiting for her AP Lit score which allowed her to get credit and placement through English 102. She already had her AP Comp score which placed her through English 101. She sat in on the upper division class she wanted and was able to gain admission to the class despite the fact that it had been closed. It is then up to the prof if he/she wants to add more students to the class.

Sometimes they will advise you to skip something till the Spring semester based on waiting for a score,or ask you for an estimate of how you think you scored, for example,S took the Economics AP's,and also needed them for his major. They advised him to wait for his scores and not schedule Eco for his first freshman semester and see how his scores came out.
USC has a very liberal AP policy,3 or aboves gets you credit

Very helpful info! Thanks very much!
