AP Credit

This may be a stupid question but does anyone know how we get credit from the school for AP classes? My son is eligible for AP History credit but he took the test last year and we never sent results to colleges. Also will be taking a couple of more tests in May and will not have the results in time for Orientation and registering for classes. Thanks for any info

Check with College board website, but I’m pretty sure when you send the scores from this year, all the tests will be included. Also, USC will take you word for what you made and what you think you will have this year when you advise over the summer (but will confirm with actual scores and adjust classes accordingly). I still would advise taking your own copy of previous scores to orientation to show advisor.

Note: when you get scores this summer, be sure report shows that the scores were sent to schools. My daughter’s didn’t and we had to call and get them sent…she had coded test correctly and college board missed it. No problem but delayed getting credited on VIP for those hours. It doesn’t really hurt except that AP hours count toward your standing as freshman, sophmore, etc and can make a difference is priority for football tickets and registering for classes. She even got food bonus bucks as sophmore once the hours hit the system.

Whenever your son signs up for AP exams this year, he will have to fill out where he would like the tests to be sent to. Just have him send them to USC. Once he does that, all of his previous tests and the tests he takes in May will be sent to USC.

As for advising, no one has AP scores yet. Your advisor just asks you how you think you did and you tell them and you sign up for classes accordingly. You might have to change after orientation, but that’s pretty common. A lot of people do change their schedules even through the first week of classes. It’s no big deal.

^The bonus bucks are lovely. It’s $20 for freshmen, but $100 for sophomores. Those hours really do come in handy.

Thank you so much to both of you!!! Truly appreciate your time!
