I was just wondering what happens during orientation week to get the kids acclimated? Of course I understand that they have to register for classes and get their books but I have never heard anyone talk about the 'fun' social activities that the campus performs to get the kids socializing. So is there anything that Stanford does? Are there any games played, bands, bbq's etc?

I would love to hear all about it. The whole week is shrouded in secrecy.

Yes, anything and everything you just mentioned. A lot of it will be dorm-focused, but there are lots of campus-wide orientation events, from games to parties, BBQs and open houses, etc. Here are the 2010 events calendars for both students and parents:

And at every event, you’ll hear (and soon tire of): “welcome to Stanford!”

Ahh Phanta how did I know that you would come through with all the answers? Thanks so much, you’re the best!
