For instance, does Stanford have any interesting guest speakers come every year to talk about certain things? Does Stanford have any events near the beginning of year for freshmen to learn more about clubs, what the school has to offer, etc.

I know I'm not wording any of this correctly (it's late and I have so much hw), but I think you know what I mean.

Can anyone tell me more about things of this nature?

Of course! There are fun activities in the dorms for freshmen to get to know each other, learn about the campus, and explore San Francisco. The dorms also sponsor cool trips. There are activity fairs at the beginning of the term that highlight the campus organizations and sign up new members. I am a parent, but I am sure a current student can say more.

Stanford holds NSO (new student orientation) right before the start of school and during this time, there are many events for freshman to get to know each other and discover some of the things Stanford offers. This is just the beginning. As GFG noted, dorms sponsor fun trips and create opportunities to get to know people-- many freshmen have already done the traditional Stanford photo scavenger hunt through SF with their dorms after only two weeks on campus. Football games are all day fun fests as well, with dorms traveling together and tailgaiting, etc…
