I've heard that its best to sign up for the earliest orientation date possible. However, i haven't signed up for an orientation session yet because its only march. Does anybody know if it is really true that if you go to a later orientation session, that you don't get the best pick of classes vs. Going to the first or second session? If anybody knows anything, please let me know. I'm hoping that UT gives everyone a fair pick at classes/professors, etc.

I’m worried about this too. But at orientation you sign up for the classes you take, so I’m assuming that classes are first come first serve. :/

As I understand it, spots in all of the typical introductory courses are only partially opened at each orientation date. For example, if there are 8 orientations, 1/8 of the seats in Gen Chem I would open for each orientation. That means that students at each orientation “technically” have an equal chance, but in truth the earlier have it better because they can re-register every time that registration re-opens. Also, I’m not sure if they apply this staggered opening to smaller courses like UGS 302/303 so those may fill up.

Don’t quote me on any of this, though. I went to orientation a while ago.

Maine is correct. Once you have attended orientation, you can log back in each week when they open more spots for the new week. You have to log in at precisely the time orientation registration starts, and can’t get in the rest of the week
