How'd you guys feel about it? I really didn't like the cafeteria food. It gave me and alot of other ppl stomach aches afterwards almost everytime..I also had trouble wtih the humid weather since im from CA and theres no AC in alot of places at Michigan. Other then that it seemed pretty cool.

whend you go?

i went the 16-19. for some reason, ann arbor decided to have showers on the exact days i was there. during the art fair too.

yea the food gave me trips to the bathroom multiple times a day.

and i didnt like the humidity either. im also from cali and i like dry heat. not this humid heat that makees you feel even hotter haha

but those are the only bad things i can think of. the program was great overall. and i guess our stomachs will eventually get used to the food. i hope..

You should be there this week. We're supposed to be in the 90's again today, and probably most of the weekend. You are right, the humidity isn't fun without air conditioning. The good news is we normally only have about two weeks of this really high heat a summer, and most of the time you probably won't be here for it. You will be here, however, for the two weeks a winter we hover around zero . . .

Son said he didn't mind the food. He had fun at the orientation, and he's ready to move in. NOW.

i went this mon-wed. i think the school is amazing. Being from CA i was able to meet a bunch of new and interesting people and i had alot of fun going down to the hookah bar/checking out the frat party. But yeah iono if i can get used to the humidity. I get all sweaty standing still outside and after too long my butt crack becomes a waterfall.

yeah gingerbread i lost like 3 pounds after orientation. the food made me needa hit up the bathroom quite often and it gave me stomach pains so i just didnt feel like eating. Did anyone else last year kinda go through this and end up getting used to it or will this be a year-long thing ?

I've heard East Quad has some of the worst food on campus (although this doesn't help me much since I'm living there), and that it's apparently at its worst during orientation. I thought it was disgusting, too.

ALL of the bathrooms were flooded or out of order. The last day I was there I had to use a bathroom on another floor because I couldn't even find ONE that was open on my floor. Also, my key-slider thing ran out of batteries and they couldn't get anyone in to fix it until 1 in the morning (I ended up getting a hotel room...I had had to sleep in the airport the night before because of a canceled flight so I was dead and ****ed off).

From what I've heard orientation just tends to suck, I hope they're right...

On a more positive note, academically I thought it was awesome because looking at the course guide confused me sooo much but they explained everything really well and I really liked my advisor.

yeah the counselors were very nice and open and were very focused on getting us towards the right direction for our careers. My biggest thing about U of M that i don't like is the fact i am in BAITS II. I would have liked to be in a much bigger dorming facility so I could meet more people. Unfortunate but oh well.

What classes did you sign up for? How many credits are you taking?

I'm taking 15 credits - German 325, Scand 103 (elementary swedish), Linguistics 210, and Slavic 151 (Yiddish Love stories; fulfills 1st year writing req)

15 credits and 4 classes? That's pretty good!

Last semester I ended up taking 6 classes for 15.5 credits.
