Orientation

For those who have previously attended orientation... did you go by yourself, or did your parents go with you?

I am not sure if I should do this on my own or bring my parents with me.

I will not be doing the family orientation-- just the one for new students.

I went by myself and stayed in the dorms.

I'd say most of the people at my orientation had parents with them or at least had parents drop them off. It's not really necessary, though.

I live about an hour away from the campus. Should I stay in the dorms.. or just go home when its over?

How long does it usually last?

It starts pretty early in the morning each day and ends pretty late at night.

If it's an hour drive I'd say spend the $50 to stay in the dorms. Plus you meet a lot more people that way and have more of an opportunity to see campus without feeling rushed.

My two best friends are people I met at orientation staying in the dorms.

Thank you.. I think I am going to do that.

I went by myself because I live 5 minutes away from UCF and grew up on the campus, so there was no need for my mother to come with.
Lots of students bring their parents, and I think they go on a separate orientation, which I think is good, so they can understand how college works, and how UCF works. I really would recommend bringing your parents. It will probably save you lots of time explaining to them about UCF, moreover, they will probably buy you lots of UCF gear.
