Orientation

Registration for orientation for the fall 2009 semester is now up and running. =]

I went to go register, but ran into two problems. First of all, I can't register for the Burnett Honors College date- it doesn't even show up as an option when filling out the electronic forms. I'm assuming that's because Student Reply forms haven't been sent yet?'

The second problem is that the Honors orientation is on the day of my high school graduation. It'll be interesting to see how this all gets settled out >.>

Thanks. I just signed up D!! Because she is OOS and not graduating until June 17th, I had to sign her up for the last registration date.

Don't forget to print confirmations! I printed and saved to pdf and when I pulled it up in pdf to send to my daughter via email, it was someone else's confirmation!!

I think they allow you to go to another orientation date if you can't make the honors one. There's really no difference, except you're with honors students and they add a special presentation where they go over honors academic policies.

Thanks, that's good to know. I wasn't sure whether or not missing the Honors orientation would get in the way of registering for the Honors courses that the college requires, but I'm sure it'll work out well.

I think you need to contact them first though to enable the different orientation dates.

Of course, just waiting for this stupid bout of the flu to subside so that they can actually understand what I'm saying when I call.

Is anybody else who reads these forums planning on going into the honors college, or a parent of someone who is?

I'm in the honors college currently and I contacted Orientation and told them I couldn't make the honors orientation (which, if your kid hasn't accepted Honors' offer yet, you wouldn't be able to sign up for until they get that) and I attended the OOS orientation.

It's not really a huge deal to miss Honors orientation, but I would still make a huge effort to do so (don't miss HS graduation or anything for it, but...) because you register for fall classes at that time and your kid will not have a wide selection of possible classes if he/she attends the OOS orientation!

Just a head's up, I get this when logging into myucf orientation:

Due to technical difficulties, registration has been taken down. It is expected to be available again this Friday, February 20.
