orientation

**to the future class of 2014 -
*you must submit the new student payment to sign up for orientation

what orientation have you signed up for?
did you choose an outdoor or overnight option?
what to you expect to get out of it?
on the top of your head, are you bringing anything specific? camera? notebook to write down other peoples names/emails?

***to current UW students -
how was your orientation experience?
if you did an overnight option, what dorm were you in? did they randomly assign you to a room/roommate?
any advice for incoming freshmen about orientation?

It seems like a very straightforward event... show up, meet people, advising session, sign up for classes, leave.

Is the orientation sign-up based on a first come first serve basis? If so, has the signing up already started?

Yes, it is first come, first serve. Signing up started about a week ago.

There are specific sessions for schools such as business and engineering. The overnight and outdoor options are also first come first serve, based on space. Past students have suggested signing up for the earliest possible if you want a higher chance to get into popular classes.

Orientation for accepted students?

Orientation for those accepted and have committed to UW

I don’t understand why it’s first come first serve…

I guess the First Year Program staff decided that. :/

I havent paid the fee yet…But I know I want to go to UW! Can you tell me what the dates for the orientations are?

i signed up for 24-25, overnight.
i’m definitely bringing a camera, and a notebook is a good idea
i need to get more info about the classes and how majors will work.
that’s what i want to get out of the orientation.

@uw20106 - they’re different depending on the specific programs you want. Theyre also different if you are in Honors. If you want to do a camping orientation, I think that also limits your choices. They run from June 21-22 until late August though, I think!

@iloveuw - perhaps I’ll see you there then! I’m also definitely bringing a camera and notebook, and did sign up for june 24-25 overnight! Do you have any idea what dorm(s) all the overnight-ers might be put into?

awesome!
well on the info, it said that i can check-in at Terry dorm if i come to UW early.
i’m not sure if this is the same for others, but for this date it might be.

Ohh, I must have missed that memo! I better go check it out again, haha. I wonder how many slots are open for the overnight option.

I JUST GOT ACCEPTED  ^^

But I’m also curious, what date did everyone sign up?!

I just know I’m doing the overnight one  this is so exciting.

Congrats LoveUW!

I signed up for the International Orientation, Sept 20.

I did not choose the overnight option.

Congrats, LoveUW!

So far, it looks like iloveuw and I are headed to June 24-25 (with overnight option). Dariop is going to an international orientation, September 20!

HI can anyone post the orientation dates?
I havent got in yet but I need to confirm my plane tickets…
Just in case I got in :p

Ooo! I think I’ll try June 24-25 too  if its full … I’ll just do June 28-29 with my friend. I visited the campus yesterday! I’m so excited XD

LoveUW - Can you make note of and post the orientation dates on CC when you sign up?

I guess I should pay soon. I told my dad to wait on paying even though there is this first come first serve basis… Is there a way to tell how many spots are still available?

I’ll try to sign up for 24-25 as well just to meet some of you guys :] afterall you have all been helpful and it’d be nice to meet you all. Hope to see you guys there!
