OSS transfer to UW-madison..worried about aid

Hi,

I am planning on trasnfering to wisco asap....(currently at umass lowell)

Stats-Asian Male

GPA:3.8
sat:1850

ECS
captain of crew team
ir club
etc etc...

Would i get any aid from Wisco? What are my chances for the BANNER program?

i would need at least 20-25k a year...(my family EFC is about 3000)

I don’t know anything about the Banner program. BUT you will be paying OOS tuition. Transfer students do not typically get much need based or merit financial aid at state universities. AND the aid most state universities provide goes first to the residents of their own state.

If you qualify for a Pell grant, you will continue to receive that at any school. BUT it will be a real drop in the bucket when you consider the added costs of attending a school paying out of state costs.

Don’t expect much aid from Wisconsin expect for some Pell grant money (about $2600) and a small student loan (about $7500). So, not much aid at all.

Didn’t anyone tell you that most publics don’t give aid to cover their high OOS costs to OOS students?

Publics charge OOS costs for a reason. It wouldn’t make a lot of send to then cover those high costs with need-based aid.

i would need at least 20-25k a year…(my family EFC is about 3000)

???

Out-of-state tuition and fees: … $24,233
Room and board: …$8,040
Books and supplies: …$1,040
Personal, trans, misc… $3,000

Since the COA is about $36k per year, why would you only need $20-25k per year?

This is from the Wisconsin website. I think you should call them and find out what the criteria are for being considered for this. It sounds promising and it says “all non-resident undergraduates”…so give them a call and ask.
