OSU Honors & AP Credit

I’m not sure how to explain this but, a friend of mine had an interview with an alumnus and was told that if she were in the honors program that certain AP credits would not be counted as replacements for her general classes (in particular, the history APs) but would instead be counted as elective credits. She was told it was because honors students have different, more difficult GE requirements and the classes that the credits would replace are the easier courses that are not even required for honors students.

Is this true? I was under the impression that to be in honors the only requirements were to keep up a high GPA and to take a few honors courses per semester, not a whole new list of required general courses…

Bump

@OSU2018 the alumnis who told you this is mistaken. My son is in honors and you are correct–the only requirement is to maintain a 3.5 gpa and take a few honors courses per semester (at least 4 honors courses or honors sections of non-honors courses per year). Oops just noticed this is an OLD thread.
