<p>This thread started as a question regarding college hockey at Michigan. It was not about the game of hockey in general.</p>

<p>Hockey is a HUGE varsity sport at UMich. The home games have been sold-out for almost 20 years, reason being (i) they have a great team and (ii) the games are so much fun to attend. If you should attend UMich you will discover that although hockey always sells out, basketball rarely sells out.</p>

<p>this is definitely true because michigan basketball generally isn't very good, but i have been to games at yost, and aside from the now banned "cya" chant, i still have yet to find it comparable to the intense atmosphere of college basketball (like when we beat ND or almost upset illinois this season)</p>
