How do we jump to the end of a thread to read the most recent posts? I can’t find a way to do that. If I’m going to have to scroll through page after page that I have already read in order to get the the new unread ones, CC is going to be an exceedingly tedious discussion forum.
i do not like the new format! Everything is too big and spread out! Bring back the old format! why do websites feel the need to tinker with things that are working great? job security??? I might have to take a leave of absence until this fiasco is fixed ? just UGH!!!
Basically unusable. Too much blank space and the whole third of the page to the left is wasted. What were you thinking? If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!
OH MY
KKmama and so very many others please do not go away. Actually, I am begging you.
This is just another execution of the original GardenWEB Home forums demise.
It was the lifeblood of many and their “NEW” made many leave
That 15 posts per page of a thread is the same as the old format.
One oddity of the “fresh new look” is that in the list of threads in a given section, those threads which have no unread posts have their titles in boldface, while those that have unread posts have their titles in regular font. This seems to be the opposite of what may be desired.
I CANT CHANGE MY PROFILE PICTURE!!
If you are logged in, just clicking on the title of the thread will do that, just like with the old website format.
So weird…the format is better when i hold my ipad in landscape…why would anyone design it that way? So much harder to type. Please give us back the old format…this one is just horrendous!
I always use my iPad in landscape, on a stand. I don’t dare try Portrait, hard to believe it could be worse.
IPhone, which I’m currently on, is certainly worse landscape. I can’t even read this simple post without scrolling.
It has been barely more than a year since the previous “fresh new look” was put in. Older thread discussing that change:
@oregon101
Wow! I thought I was the only one here that was thinking about what happened to gardenweb forums.
It is as if they are trying to make this site as unusable and annoying as possible.
^As that article pointed out, however, the forums remained the same.
Ucb, please don’t suggest we should like this format because many hated the last one, too! But yeah, that one generated many complaints about white space and screens too bright.
Some idea of auto SaveDraft is defintely not working consistently for me. Sometimes, Ican refresh and the missing words appear. SOmetimes not.
Do we really have to copy our replies before leaving a thread to check something?
Actually, I am not suggesting that people like this format, which overall is a downgrade due to wasted space, more need to scroll, worse navigation, more annoying ad presentation that induces more people to want to use ad blocking add-ons, etc…
However, some complaints given in this thread are aspects unchanged from the previous format (15 posts per page, clicking thread subject to get to your first unread post, reply just goes to the reply box without prefilling any reference to the previous poster or link to the post being replied to).
The previous format had auto-save-draft for mobile but a save-draft button on desktop. It would be better if there were a save-draft button for both mobile and desktop.
All I can say is that this update is horrible. Can’t find anything, too much white space. Please change it back! What a huge mistake this is!
Just adding my voice. I do not like the update. I am a relatively new user of CC, so I can recall coming on here for the first time. The interface, while maybe not very glamorous, was very intuitive and easy to use. I think the experience would be very different for someone encountering this new setup - very hard to navigate. Also agree with all the other comments regarding too much white space, annoying video, etc.
Here’s what I don’t get about the Internet (and apps): If something ain’t broke, why try to fix it?
There’s nothing fresh about this new look. It’s terrible.
Did anyone find parent? I still haven’t! I do not like the format, but the whit space is better than the space taken up by ads lately
