How you you get the colored emojis?
Did they do any UAT (user acceptance test) before they released this? A lot of wasted real estate on the screen.
Useless site when I can’t find my favorite forums. What happened to the list?
Bout to send this site to the “bag a week” thread but I can’t find it.
@skieurope how long does it take to autosave? I did a test last night and I waited a LONG time to see if it would auto save…and it didn’t. What’s the big deal having a “save draft” button for folks who want to use it?
Ah…but now I am getting a pop up that tells me that this post has been autosaved. That did NOT happen at all yesterday evening.
FYI…I use my iPad in landscape mode almost always. But I never use my phone in landscape. This new update does not make this forum more uniform from device to device.
I have this thread bookmarked…so I can find it. Navigating this forum now is a challenge.
@notrichenough
Just use your emojis on the keyboard, they will show up now. Not sure that is a plus or minus though. Lol
So it seems the consensus is people really like the new changes! ?.
I primarily use my phone. The look and “fit and feel lol”, is poor compared to other forums. It takes some getting used to and it is much harder finding things that are new questions now. Like everything blends together, per se and it’s not easy on the eyes like the other forum was. The cool kids go with a dark theme not a white backed theme. Maybe if able to choose our background color would help
My suggestions in the future would be to ask some of the regulars and set up a beta tests for a few weeks. Get some feedback and go from there. Really successful forums will try to incorporate some of their members suggestions into their themes. You will never make everyone happy but programmers program from the perspective of the programmer NOT the perceptive of the end user. We are the end users.
Why I have an audience just want to say a big Thank you to all the wonderful moderators. They do a great thankless job ?.
Just pointing out. On my android cell, above this a reply box, it reads
<< … 30 >>
That’s an example of how we cant easily navigate back.
It might be totally unrelated, but this “upgrade” keeps reminding me of the great (NOT) new Suntrust+BB&T name “Truist”, no one in their right mind would choose that name (over even BB&T), except some knuckle-head consultants.
I did a quick test and it looked like 15-20 seconds, but I was not using a stopwatch, so don;t quote me. @thumper1
Remember that the moderators are just sharing our experiences; we are not the web designers.
Turn your phone to landscape, you will see the << 1 … 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 >>
I’m in a few private Facebook groups that were formed by CC members over a common interest. I gotta say, those groups are now all venting their displeasure with the new CC. NOBODY likes it at all. Well, at least I can navigate those discussions, LOL
About 24 hours into the update.
No noted communication from admin to share whether the changes are done, being reviewed, still tweaking or whatever.
No comments to users to say “we are listening” or “suck it up”. Nada.
Would it be ok if we as users agreed to give the silent (no posting or using the site) for 24 hours?
Throw us a bone!
The double space when I’m typing is driving me nuts - too much white space.
The ads are driving me nuts. When I hit pause, it works for a bit and then they pop up again. I can’t think while those are going.
So I tried searching within this thread for “ads” to see how to stop them. I got a list of posts, but when I tried to click on the individual post, I couldn’t do it. It either took me to the individual member who posted, or to the beginning of the thread or some other page that I don’t know how i got to. Help! This new format is awful! By the way, I don’t mind a billboard type ad that stays on the side, even if the ad itself changes out every minute or so for another billboard type ad, but this constant movement on the side is too distracting!
the density in reading thread titles is not good and it is not easy to use. On my monitor a thread that used to display in a single packed line now takes about 2 vertical inches and I have to use the mouse to scroll down to see all the threads on the page. The experience when clicking the “next page” button is not good either; when the page refreshes it jumps back up to the top so once again I have to use the mouse to scroll down to where the sub-forum I want to view is displayed
I’m sure the web folks had good intentions and I know “responsive web design” is all the rage in programming, but the new format simply does not look good on a PC.
@notrichenough, where do I find the landscape setting on an Android?
@CottonTales just turn your phone…and if you don’t have the screen setting locked, it should become landscape.
To the moderators…@skieurope and @MaineLonghorn who are taking the time to respond on this thread…and help a bit…thank you. Your job is thankless enough…you didn’t need this to deal with too.
@thumper1, thank you. I thought it was an actual setting.
Except that this redesign seems to be the opposite of what a UI-clueless STEM person may come up with.
Guys, we are closely following this thread. Your feedback is important to us and will be/is closely reviewed. Since the release yesterday we are working diligently with the technical team to address all functionality issues and bugs. Thank you for bearing with us!
@CCadmin_Sorin Thank you, Sorin, for your response. It is helpful.
