Thx but finding it on my phone the links are like red and very hard to see on the background it’s on.

Just doesn’t seem like anyone tested this out. Hopefully changes made will be helpful

Someone made the point about Twitter and FB having the main text in the center and that working ok. You are right that is totally correct. But a couple things:

  1. As mentioned the layout, coloring/shading etc. lends itself to that working.
  2. The font is darker and a font with letters shaped in a way that they are not spread out.
  3. Tweets are shorter and often broke up with posted photos or gifs or whatever. It works! This doesn’t! WHITE OVERLOAD. BAD FONT.
  4. Also, when I went to my work Twitter account today I noticed that the layout was different - I almost panicked - “not another website I visit going through an overhaul!” - but guess what? The changes worked. They were simple, efficient. I adjusted within minutes.

Before it even got that far, the new version should have been made available as an option to be beta-tested and commented on so that it can be made good before being made the only option.

What was the reason for this change? Were the users complaining about its format? Is this generating more ad revenue? Who owns this forum?

How come I need to sign in every single time I come back to this site? Why?

And FYI, please don’t ever put me on the frequent users list or whatever it’s called. I promise that if my name appears there, I will never post on this forum again. And I AM a frequent poster.

Who owns CC?

As a long time user I’m really disappointed in the lack of CC taking all this user feedback on this interface. As a CC Forum Champion the new redesign makes it very hard to carry out moderation tasks within the forums since navigation is so cumbersome, especially on mobile. I would really like the option to move to the old look. If the new look must stay at least keep the format and size of the old UI which worked on PCs and Mobile. Any competent UX designers would’ve seen these issues coming.

Long time lurker, here. I hate the new website as well. I wasn’t a fan of the last update, but I could live with it. This is just unbearable.

I’m on mobile, so I luckily am avoiding the ungodly “video ad,” but wow that double space between lines as I’m typing this out is MEGA ANNOYING. To reiterate what others are saying, it is IMPOSSIBLE to find anything on here easily. I liked the older design where all the forums were in one big list laid out in front of you. From there, I could visit any forum I wanted with one single click. Here, it’s a freaking treasure hunt. And I’m a young, “tech savvy” college student! I also hate how much scrolling is involved. It’s a waste of time and hand muscles.

Goodbye, College Confidential. If this change is reverted, I may come back, but for now, you’ve lost my viewership.

I have a request. @CCadmin_Sorin could you ask the powers to be if they could make the little push pins red, or yellow or some color other than grey…so we can really SEE them.
And could all the pinned threads on each forum be kept together, please?

Oh, so the moderators didn’t even see it… That’s bad…

One more issue - because the agree, like, helpful etc… symbols are so large and so much scrolling is necessary, I keep accidentally hitting one of them.

I actually like this new update. It looks much more modern and updated. It could be that I’m relatively new so I never got used to the old version.

Hate this new look. Especially hate that the video ad is continuous. I want to be able to scroll past it. This is the kind of thing that can trigger my migraines. Please make it stop.

I’ve been reading and commenting on CC for nearly a year. If the interface had looked like this on Day 1, I would never have returned. Ugh

It was nice to browse daily the last couple months but this new format is intolerable on Android for me. Will check back around November to keep up with bookmarked threads but thats about all my patience can handle if nothing changes.

Duh! This forum is not owned by Apple, so, at best, the IT design team is mediocre; at worst, it’s incompetent. This is not at all surprising, as the talent is drained by technology companies. But I doubt that CC forum owners care. They generate money from advertising, which now occupies more space, so that’s all that matters. If the forum users generate more clicks by desperately navigating the new design, this only brings more revenues to the owners.

I thought taking a break for some hours might help, but it absolutely has not I find the forum exhausting to read.

Unless the format goes back to the way it was, I am done here.

@ucbalumnus We asked to beta test future releases after the last upgrade, but pretty clearly the design team and CC powers-that-be are indifferent to what long time users think. Given that the long time users provide a large percentage of the comments that are useful to students and parents, this seems really short sighted. For the last 24 hours, I don’t think I’ve helped anyone on the site. I can’t really find the questions or conversations where I could maybe help because the new navigation and mobile screen design is so awful. I wasn’t even tempted today to hop on and see what is new. It is too much work now. I’ll ptobably check back occasionally to see if the change got rolled back, but think I’ve got better things to do than struggle with a crappy UI. And wouldn’t dream of putting on a sweatshirt to advertise CC at the moment, so will be skipping that offer.
