Day two analysis: While I agree some changes need to be made, and many of the suggestions in the list are good (even imperative) ones, overall I still like it.

I think what’s most important is that the site stay current and viable so that future participants can get from it what I did. And yes, revenue matters. New people will not have the reference point and won’t see the problems. In fact, they may feel the old layout was too “old timey” and look to competitors.

I do think the vitriolic response is a bit unwarranted, although in a way that is good, as it shows how passionately the community feels about this place. There is even a sense of ownership exhibited along with the extremely valuable contributions of time… but it is a “free as in beer” service and the fact is the job can still get done with the new layout.

Now, if you want to speak about the last update to Naviance, and how terrible that is… lol

If you keep posting a list that now takes up more than my screenspace, you are contributing to the problem. Multiples of these and you block our reading same as all the other space issues you complain about.

And you think they’re going to make a to-do list of that?

And, any one individual’s problems are not universal. And you’ve got to state what you’re using, when you see these issues. Your Iphone problems are different than how my Android tablet shows.

So, yeah, my vote is to return to the last format.

The background is actually a very light grey, the rgb components are 252,252,252 (where 255,255,255 is pure white).

If you are seeing it as blue, your screen may not be correctly calibrated. Or your eyes. :smiley:

You can use the blue light filter, but then it’s annoyingly brown-ish. My first reaction was dirty fish water. I’m going to try it a bit. I do believe it’s another memory hog- or? And then the contrast isn’t so great.

Where’s the international students forum? Why is it so hard to find ANYTHING? Really, CC, I had to force myself to go to this site because the new format is such a turn-off.

^ Go to the forum Home page, scroll down until you see “College Search and Admissions”, click on it, then scroll down until you see “International Students” (or “College Majors” or whatever else you are interested in looking at).

It’s not that hard to find once you realize where everything has been moved, it’s just fairly inefficient and involves lots of scrolling to get there.

The annoying auto play video on the right top is still there. I suspect the goal of the redesign is to maximize ad revenue, thus a drop in views would trigger attention.

Did @CCadmin_Sorin ever address @Mom2aphysicsgeek’s posts #381 and #385 re: two SQL injection attempts to tamper with sensitive data on her computer? If security issues are going to become a concern, many will leave this site for that reason alone.

It’s there. Upper right hand corner. I couldn’t see it at first but had to adjust my sizing to view “actual size” and then it became visible.

There is way too much white space. Right now it is the size for people who need readers but aren’t using them… Seriously squish it down.

In the “Latest Posts” section, could you put back the listing of the forum it’s in under the thread title so that a quick click takes you directly to that forum without having to click on a thread you didn’t want to read?

I used that feature all the time to take me quickly to a forum where I knew I would frequent specific threads and now I can’t easily find those forum sections that I enjoyed participating in or just reading. :slightly_frowning_face:

Bitdefender seems to pop this up fairly frequently, according to a google search. General consensus is that it is most like a false positive, although there is a chance it could be a rogue ad, or some other infection on @Mom2aphysicsgeek 's device.

I’m a web designer and the new interface is absolutely horrible. You can no longer find pinned threads, it’s cluttered and the navigation sucks…plus you have stupid video ads playing non-stop. You need to fire whoever thought this was a good redesign.

Absolutely horrible design. The video at the upper right corner which does not go away gives me a headache. You can’t read posts without the video playing and it’s difficult to concentrate on posts while it’s in your vision.

@lookingforward I think the list is a good idea. Otherwise we keep circling on the same points. It also gives a laundry list in one place of the problems with the redesign. It will be a hella lot less scrolling if they fix the issues (or roll us back - my fondest wish), and if tracking a list gets someone behind the curtain’s attention, then this would be worth it. Or you could go flounder around looking for other threads to read if it annoys you to see the list. If you can find any… ?‍♀️

For those who are annoyed by the white background (which the old forum look had, so it is not something new to complain about), you can install Dark Reader for Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. This can be particularly helpful if you read your mobile device in low light conditions to avoid the looking-into-a-flashlight effect. Some mobile devices also use less power with a predominantly dark display than with a predominantly light display.

No way to get landscape on my phone. Usually when I turn my phone it goes to landscape but not on CC

And no it’s not locked in portrait as turning the phone works everywhere else.

But it started showing up in multiple posts. A list is good. Multiple reposts of the list, not so sure.

On my cell, how do I see who liked a post? Think the ques or similar came up, but not the answer??
I go to my profile, click on, eg, helpful, and nothing. Works on tablet. I think.
