Out of State Chances

I am currently a Senior and plan to apply very soon to UT Austin in hopes of attending this amazing school. I am feeling insecure, however, that my application may not be too strong and that I won't get accepted. I would highly appreciate some feedback.
- Plan to enroll in Pre-Pharmacy program
- GPA weighted: 4.02
- GPA unweighted: 3.94
- Rank: 4 of 90 (small town school) TOP 5%
- Have taken 3 AP courses and will be taking 3 this year.
- Have been VERY involved in student organizations/clubs since Freshman year.
- Have taken leadership positions.
- Have done community service throughout high school (30 hours per academic year)
- 2014 Boys State Delegate
- ACT: 26 (I am still trying to raise it up! What would you all consider a "safe" score for admission into UT?)

Thanks in advance!!

The range for out of state is 28-32! (Via there website -http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/whyut/profile/outofstate-</a> so I would say a 29 makes it a high match with your other stats considered! But falling in the range at all gives you a decent shot

Uts pharmacy program is ranked number four in the nation so you know it’s super competitive to get into most likely your act will need to be at least of 31 + to get into pharmacy school and possibly ut because depending on major the harder it is to getting into ut. major matters if you choose a easier major with the highest score you have a better chance of getting in if you choose a really hard majorwith a low test score you will definitely not get into that major or even into the school

Raise that ACT and your good pal.

Ignoring what run-off sentences 135pipe typed, you have a competitive profile as an applicant. For comparison, I entered freshman year undeclared/pre-pharmacy with 28 ACT score, top 8%, 3.7 uw GPA, 7 AP classes, and various student club involvement. I also recommend ACT improvement and also well-developed essays.

For future reference, UT’s pharmacy school and UT’s pre-pharmacy health professions track involve 2 COMPLETELY different application processes and requirements.

Oops sorry about that

It’s because people I meet at orientation applied with 30+ act and ranked 3-7% and were rejected. INSTATE!!! Too

GOOD NEWS YOU ALL! I was accepted to the university AND to the College of Natural Sciences as an undeclared/pre-pharmacy major.

To all future applicants, recommendations are:

  • Do not feel discouraged by an act score that is below average; they seriously do review ALL parts of your application equally (test scores, rank, essays, gpa, leadership positions, rigor of classes, community service, recommendations…)
  • Have strong essays! Do not be vague - content really does matter.
  • Be patient, but make sure to always have a good, solid Plan B just in case. (I submitted my application in October and did not find out about my acceptance until the last week of February)
  • Last but not least, if this is the school of your dreams, put your heart into everything you do!
… and always think that if it’s meant to be, it WILL find it’s way to be
