Applying as Communications major

Thanks so much!

Oh and I also am a National Merit Commended Scholar and have won awards for yearbook software and editorial leadership

Your Academic Index/projected freshman GPA would be 3.52, which is good. Your ECs are also very good, probably a 5/6. Based on your essay score on the SAT, you'd probably also get a 5/6 on the essays. That means that your Personal Achievement Index is about 5, which is also very good. They'll then graph that and take those areas of the graph which are the highest PAI and AI combined.

UT only takes 30% of OOS applicants, and the median SAT score for those applicants is about a 1350 I believe.

I'd say you're likely in. You may not get Communications as it's a very challenging major to get in to, especially for out of state students. Rank Liberal Arts as your #2 choice and you should be good to transfer in to Communications after frosh year if you have to.

Good luck!

Thank you so much!
How do you know all this?

I've done my research and am well read on the subject.

If you look at the thread "does UT really not consider GPA" a few positions down, then you can find the exact formula they use.
