Out-of-state Chances???

I am a Junior and I got a 178 on the PSAT (57-reading 63-math 58-writing). I am going to take an SAT class and study ridiculously to boost my score. My my gpa is currently a 3.81 I was ranked 45/390 at the beginning of the year but I think my rank has since increased, but probably not by much.

I'm in National Honor Society, Student Council, and Key Club. I hope to join my school's DECA, which ranks annually in national competitions, as well as International Relations.
I will be in Spanish Honor Society and I will probably run for president or high position in it and probably another position in National Honor Society.
I have about 50 hours of community service.
I play the guitar and I run spring and indoor track and have since Freshman year. I also played baseball from 9th to 10th grade. I play tennis at a local club but I don't know if that counts for anything. I am also a first-generation college student

All of my core classes (including Spanish) are honors. At my school, we are only allowed to take one AP class Junior year and none freshman and sophomore years, so I am taking AP US History this year (pretty much the only choice for Juniors).

Also, if you have any suggestions to help improve my application that would be awesome.

You still have a shot at Chapel Hill because you are still a junior in HS, but even if you improve your score when you take the actual SAT it will be a huge reach just because OOS admissions are so competitive.

In addition to studying for the SAT, I'd encourage you to focus your time on the courses and extracurricular activities that you are truly passionate about -- for the sake of admissions, sure, but also for your own sanity.

To stand out in a pack of OOS applicants, many of whom will have stronger numbers than your own, you'll also need to have extremely strong essays.

Basically: Work hard, write great essays, and you may have a shot. But realize that the sheer number of OOS applicants means it will be a long shot.
