Out of state junior legacy worried about UF!

Hello all! I am a Texas resident, born in Gainesville, and wanting to attend U of F. Both of my parents got their masters at UF, and I am wondering what my chances are at not only acceptance, but at getting some sort of financial aid. I know this makes it extremely difficult, but my parents can only afford $25,000 :frowning: . Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any honest feedback that is provided here.

You have a very good chance of getting in. If you maintain what you have now, and you increase your sat to above 1950 or an act score of 30+ your chances of getting in are close to 100% provided you don’t completely screw up on essays.

@night3423 I actually got my act scores yesterday, and i got a 31 composite score. How does this put me?

A 31 ACT puts you at the 75 percentile for enrolled students (top 25%). You’re doing great.

Keep your GPA up and continue with your ECs. Then apply and hope for one of the more substantial ($16K to $20K a year) OOS scholarships. But since those are not guaranteed, you should make sure to apply to several other matches/safeties (Texas will have several great, affordable in-state options).

Good Luck!
