Out of State Scholarship Awards?

Has anyone from out of state received notification of a scholarship award? S. was required to submit essays to qualify for an award by 3/15, but he has heard nothing.

I believe the confirmation receipt letter (email) I received for my out-of-state merit scholarship application says that the applications will be reviewd in late March and notifications of scholarship offers “as quickly thereafter as possible”.
Good luck! Please post when you hear something! I’ll do the same.

Tx Kfish, will do.

I received my OOS award letter in the mail today!! The Merit Scholarship letter will state an $$ amount which it says will be distributed evenly over 4 years.
Woo hooo!

Hi,

Do you mind my asking how much you received and what your stats are? I heard that awards were going to be lower this year than in the past. I’m also concerned about what tuition will be for next year.

My D’s scholarship award came today, too. She got $5000 per year and her stats were 2060 SAT (or was it 2040?) 3.7 UW IB program.

My son recieved 6K. He’s between the top 5 and 6 percent of his class, 3.65 UW GPA - all honors and AP classes, with very good ECs. SAT I 1440 SAT II 790 Physics and 760? math.

My son fell in love with TCNJ years ago - but the merit aid isn’t as good as it used to be. He was hoping for closer to the 10K maximum. I feel so awful - I’m not sure he and I can swing it. He’s received good scholarships elsewhere, but he’s been telling everyone for four years that he’s going to TCNJ.

My s. received $5000 for the next four years and “priority housing.” Two questions: Does anyone know what priority housing means, and is there some reason to think that tuition is going to go way up next year? My current figuring puts the total cost based on last year’s figures at about 32,000, which isn’t cheap but is a lot less than most of our other options.

I think priority housing means that since you’re out of state, on-campus housing is guaranteed for all 4 years instead of only the first 2.

Admissions gave me the following information for anyone else who had the same questions as I did: Priority housing simply means you are guaranteed housing for four years rather than two. 2010-2011 tuition will probably not be set until July when the university knows what its budget will be. However, they are committed to trying not to deal with funding cuts by raising tuition.
