Out of State Scholarships

I am an out of state student who was directly admitted to Hutton and O’Neill. I received $9,000 for the Dean’s Scholarship and recently submitted my SSA. How much can I expect in scholarships from Hutton and O’Neill from the SSA?

@karsht - hard to say - have heard anywhere from 1k-6k…i applied also, not sure, guess find out in march…

Don’t assume you will automatically get $ from Hutton. My daughter got the max OOS Deans scholarship of $11,000, was Direct Admit to Kelley, got invited into the ACE program in Kelley. Stats were 4.5 GPA , 34 ACT and 1520 SAT. She didn’t get any money from Hutton. She was later offered a scholarship through Kelley that came after she had accepted admission.

@MAsecondtimer - interesting…am curious what the ACE interview process was like and when you were notified about it…would be disappointing not to get any Hutton scholarship money but it is what it is - I think IU/Kelley had record applications this past year so they obviously dont have to give as much merit…

@MAsecondtimer - was she invited to do an SSA- that is how my son was awarded his Hutton Scholarship, after getting the 11k Dean’s. He is now a senior but had similar stats to your daughter, also DA, in ACE etc.

To answer both of the questions…yes she was invited to apply to SSA (and she is in Hutton) and did apply and didn’t receive any money. RE ACE…she was invited to apply and did so…no interview involved. I believe there was an essay? They cap the number of kids in ACE and they seem to add invitations after May 1st…so when kids who were accepted don’t commit to IU they extend more invitations. The ACE cohort was about 75 or so and was pretty evenly split between males/females. As I mentioned in my original post after she committed to IU she was awarded a scholarship through Kelley…just got a random email one day that she was the recipient. It is a 4 year scholarship for over $5,000/year (the amount fluctuates each year). That was a nice surprise!

Have her do the SAA yearly. My son got additional money every year (1-2k). Also if she goes abroad she should apply for abroad scholarships- my son got one from both Kelley and Hutton. That semester was very inexpensive for us
