Out of State Tuition/ Merit/ increase possible?

Looks like the Ohio Trustee award for nonstate residents no longer makes up the full difference between OOS and In State Tuition. Wasn’t this different last year? Also does anyone know how hard it is to be a Cutler scholar (based on the school) and/or whether the school will offer more aid than initially offered?

Have you already applied?

My daughter applied earlier this fall and was admitted. We just received her merit award letter last week. She received three different awards - one being the Ohio Trustee award for 6k - and two others that bring the award total to 10k.

I think that brings it close to, or about the same as, in-state tuition.

I’ve no idea if the school will offer more aid, if asked…

I have the same question about the Scholars LAS program.

She was not invited to apply - but according to the website, she should be eligible.

I’m curious if selection for Scholars program is automatic, based on stats and a good enough essay written - or is it competitive?

My D is concerned about both class size and the reputed party atmosphere at Ohio - but otherwise likes the school and is seriously considering enrolling next fall - and we think the Scholars program would be a good fit for her.

The Cutler’s Scholarship is VERY competitive. I believe some dozen or so students at the most receive it. You will be asked to apply. The Honors Tutorial Program is also very competitive and requires a separate application but does not require an invitation. The scholars program is something separate that I don’t have too much information on since it hasn’t applied to either of my Ds.

Thanks for the info. Our offer was quite similar to Beedare’s. Thank you for the information on the scholarship. Stats are well above average for the profile for the selected major but not stratospheric test scores.
