Hey everyone.

I got accepted into W&M as a transfer a few days ago! I am still waiting on my financial aid packet, but I was told that W&M generally only meets 80% need for OOS applicants.

My EFC is 0... and I don't think I'd be able to put up $10,000 per semester assuming that I receive the full 80%.

I've heard about some people getting upwards to 90%+ covered in aid from OOS transfers. Can someone chime in, please?

Generally, W&M can only meet 80% of an out-of-state student’s need (due mostly to the fact that we have some grants that can go to Virginians only as they are state grants). This is not to say there aren’t exceptions to this rule but they are not as common as we’d like. Financial aid information should be released this week via email so you should be able to view your award soon and you can always contact the Financial Aid Office once awards are released if you have any questions.

Thank you. I have contacted the Financial Aid Office and have told them about my family’s current situation. I hope that I get enough aid to attend!

Looking forward to seeing you all this Fall.

The Financial Aid Office will certainly do what it can and no doubt will be releasing aid information soon so you’ll have all the information in front of you.

Looking forward to it! Do you know if it’ll be released by the end of this week?

Our understanding is that many packages have been released via email (to the same email your decision was sent to). If you haven’t received it, call Financial Aid (757-221-2420) to see if they are still waiting on any information from you
