Coming from Hawaii we have to go out-of-state if we want a good education, and I believe mainland colleges realize this. I was just curious as to whether you think a state school on the mainland would be more willing to accept a qualified applicant from hawaii out-of-state than an equally qualified out-of-state applicant from another state?

I believe that top colleges looking for diversity would choose a Hawaii student over an equally qualified student from another state.

I'm also from Hawaii btw =]

I can easily see why you believe that too. The cultural experience you get growing up or living here is such an asset. A lot of the colleges I am looking at report there being plenty of diversity yet little intertwining between the students of minority and majority status. Thats ALL WE DO in Hawaii, intertwine!!! They have to take us over other similarly qualified applicants........right?
