Hey everyone, I applied to UVM on October 1st (a month before the deadline) for spring semester. This was UMass Amherst's deadline, so I sent everything out then. I felt like I was going to get into UMass. However, about three weeks ago I got rejected. I think it might have been because I sent it at the last moment and they have rolling admissions, but I realized it could have been worse. UVM was always my top school and I had wanted to go there since high school, I just knew I didn't have the grades.

Anyway, I went to UMass Dartmouth for two years (yeah, like you'd know it) with the intention to transfer, as I come from a pretty academically competitive family for where I live. Let's just say it was a horrible experience, both academically and socially. I also had some serious mental health issues (THAT'S another discussion for another time) which were really starting to mess me up that by mid-sophomore year, I had to withdraw from all but one class. However, once I started the next semester, I was able to make Dean's List with a 3.6 GPA and five classes.

Anyway, here are my statistics, and some questions I really answers to. I'm almost embarrassed to post them, but here goes:

GPA - As it is, 2.65. But do you know if UVM factors in failed classes into your GPA if you've already retaken them? I did this, and this is what it says. However, I am sending them an unofficial transcript (due to time constraints) that includes another class they forgot to withdraw me from, which would bring it up to a 2.78, might they consider that? I also have a note from my therapist that explains my mental health situation at the time (which is under control now), should that help?

High school GPA - About 2.8. My grades were better towards the end, but nothing has ever matched what I earned last semester.

Recommendation from my Psychology professor (I'm a psych major, if that's important) who is a UVM alumna... yeah, I really lucked out there, didn't I? And this wasn't required.

I wasn't as nervous until I found out about UMass Amherst. But UVM says most transfer applicants have at least a 2.75, and I realize that one grade might make me or break me. I'm just hoping they realize that what I got last semester is what I can do now, the rest of that stuff is behind me. And I hope UMass Dartmouth is good enough a school to transfer from, it's the reason why I didn't go to community college.

Thanks in advance!
