outside scholarship - take it?

question...

D is likely to be offered a $1,000 renewable scholarship from her HS drama club.

how do schools handle outside aid coming in after the FA has been set?

i'm concerned that it will negatively impact her financial package at the GWU.

D can refuse the scholarship of course, but she doesn't want to... it's an honor that has meaning to her.

don't want to disturb the FA beast.

You should check with GWU. It is fairly typical for schools to first apply any outside scholarships to the self-help portion of the aid package (student loans, work-study, or student summer earnings contribution.) Just call GWU’s FA office and ask.

Congratulations to your daughter!

D is calling GW today.

it seems so backwards to say “no” to money, but i relaly don’t want the FA package to go down.

It may go “down” but not in a bad way. GW may just reduce the student loan amount.
