I just curious about grade in college. I saw this stat on YLS websitehttp://www.law.yale.edu/admissions/profile.htm its stat for entering class for YLS, and what I curious is there is 4.31 GPA mentioned in here. How did they get over 4.0?? Thank you
Edit: whoops, just saw that that was Law School, not undergrad. Nevermind.
@SusieAnne I’m sorry, my question was just how to get higher than 4.0 in college, such is undergrad. Not how to get over 4.0 in law school. I’m sorry for uncleanness.
To get over a 4.0, the university must offer it as an option, first of all.
If the university has a flat grading system, you might see A - 4.0, B - 3.0, C - 2.0, D - 1.0, F - 0.0. But other universities might offer something such as the plus or minus system. So, A+ - 4.3, A - 4.0, A- - 3.7, B+ - 3.4, B - 3.0, etc.
So you can’t get over a 4.0 if your university doesn’t offer it.
^Yup. 4.0 is as high as you can go at my university.
@Yoohooos Look up the grading scale at whatever universities you’re considering to find out. Most universities that I know of don’t weight, except by credit hour (a 3 credit hour class is worth more than a 1 credit hour class, because for and A you’re getting (3) 4.0’s versus (1) 4.0).
