....Any other advice or suggestions?

a lot of kids think they are recruited, if you were truly recruited, you wouldn't be filling out this form because they would have already told you how the process goes. a 30 and being recruited is far more than enough for the schools listed.

coaches tell many kids that they are being recruited when no action is taken. It is simply good recruiting; it makes the kids feel special and is no liability to the school. They must do this because they know they only get a portion of recruits. Keep it in perspective when you are looking, and if he really is interested ask him to make a move expressing interest.

standardized testing is the only thing that will hold you back, as you guessed. impressive stuff, though. i think you'll get into pomona ed.

I understand what you're saying and I talked to the coach at CMC, and asked if he thought I would get in or if he would express interest in me to the adcom and he said that unlike Amherst or Williams, the Coach doesn't really get to say "i want these 3 athletes", he rates athletic ability and then admissions takes over from there. He said that this year, he had a couple state champions that were rejected, even though they would have been a huge addition to the team...

That's my experience w/ recruiting...any more advice?

I don't think it works quite like that at Amherst or Williams, kid.

I probably made it sound worse at Amherst and Williams than it really is, but the NESCAC does have a unique perspective on admissions. However, tipping and priority lists do happen at all the elite LAC's I assume.

If you're not happy with you ACT, you could apply to some SAT/ACT optional schools.

Tipping happens everywhere. Less so at Amherst, where the average football player has an SAT score above 1400, than at most other colleges.

YOU RAN 2:06???? FOR 800?
haha i ran a 2:06 this year at cif prelims that's so tight, but yeah good luck with that ACT you'll need it to get into the best.

naderboy2002, are you going to be a senior?

unregistered - would 31 on the ACT be good enough?

I don't know, I didn't submit my ACT scores, just my SAT. 31 certainly wouldn't keep you out, but scoring a point or two better would be a big help, I think.
