So, My schedule is pretty rigorous (for a freshman)/no AP's offered to a freshman

English Honors
Geometry Honors
World History Honors
Biology Honors
Spanish 1 CP1 (standard course/switched a language)
Elements of Theater (requirement to be in any play not student directed)
Management (business class required to be in DECA)

I really want to improve my grades from 8th grade....but I feel like I'm doing way to many EC's but I don't want to give up anyone of them....

Theater-(not gonna be in a play until December)
Soccer- (Start of School through the end of November)
HOSA Future Medical Professionals- My mom said I should maybe move this one to next year but its a new club and I really want to do it....
DECA-(not sure of the timeline for this)
Also, I do 2 outside of school enrichment math classes which is a lot of effort (might consider dropping one)
I am also planning to skip a level in Spanish to get to AP....

Is this a lot? Okay maybe not like a lot of 100 club CCers but I want to be really involved into every single one...How can I have a perfect balance?

…

Focus on your grades. If you think you’ll slip then back off on the sports and extracurricular things. Sometimes just one sport that you enjoy as well as dominate in can stand out. Even garner a scholarship. You don’t need to be in every club either. Pick like one or two things that you really are interested in and get active. Grades and SAT/ACT is your main concern. Don’t try to balance out a myriad of everything as you’re doing.

A 4.0 with a regular set of subjects vs. a 3.5 with all honors…4.0 will always win out to colleges.

There are little known backdoor programs at Ivy Leagues which you can have a GED (YES A GED) and get accepted into Columbia, Yale, Fordham and the likes…and require a 3.0 GPA minimal from a transfer college.

High school is not the end of the world…and it’s not smart to overload either…in high school or college. Protect your GPA at all costs and decent test scores. Everything else is second.

I focused on Taekwondo, Judo and Piano. None of which had anything to do with my high schools.

I think it is doable as long as you feel you will get good grades. I did a lot of clubs freshman year (I am going to be a sophomore) and had to drop one of my favorites when it proved to be difficult (Science Olympiad) to juggle with my other clubs. Just make sure you think you will do well! And don’t be lazy freshman year! Best of luck! :)

I dont know which ones to drop though?!?! Like which EC’s???
