Any ideas? Thanks!

There seems to be a good chance that your Reed host will have homework after showing you around. Wander around and introduce yourself as a prospie to those who are not studying at the moment. Try the Paradox cafe, commons, pool room, student union (which my be empty if there's no program planned), library lobby. You should find someone outgoing and happy to give you their take on life at Reed. A prospie name tag may be attractive.

Thanks, vossron! What do you mean by a prospie name tag? Like, literally a name tag?

I just mean that wearing any "prospect" badge they might give you should help attract suitable attention. I actually don't know for sure if these are given for the overnights; I know they are given at some other times for visitors.

yo buddy. They don't give you any badge or any nonesense like that. They do give you a folder though, which is quite enought to attract the "I'm a prospie, arn't I cute" attention. What night are you overnighting? Is it this week during the 'activity' days? Fridays are always pretty fun, should be a party somewhere. But yeah, most reedies are MORE than happy to spout about the school, so just go up to someone and say "Hi, i'm a prospie, i got some questions, do you mind..." and they'll probably gush for a while. However, there are a few that dislike this place (don't really know why they stay but...) so if you get some cranky answers don't listen to them just go find somone else. Oh!. If you meet a senior DO NOT immeadiatly ask about thesis, there are some (me included) that are doing wicked well and arn't stressing about them...however, i've seen some poor freshman get their head ripped off by some super stressed senior that hadn't slept in 4 days, also we spend our LIVES working on it so if we can talk about something else, we do. But yeah, reed is super welcoming but can be too welcoming at times. I'm sure you'll be offered beer and maybe something else if you go to the pool hall or SU. So, moral of the story is find a prospie-friend, wander around and have fun. Talk to people and get as much out of the experience as possible. Good luck...if you got some more questions, i'm always happy to help.

I'm overnighting at Reed right now, and I just got back from hanging out at the outhouse with a guy I knew through random avenues, but we had never actually met. I was there for a few hours, and my co-prospie went to bed instead of coming. Before that we got dinner, went to the pool hall, played pool with a couple girls, one of which who took us to see another girl I sort of knew from home, and we hung out at ODB for an hour or so with her and her friends...after that we wandered around and chatted with people outside, but because it is a Sunday, no one is around. We bought ice cream and ate it with our host. After that I took off...so yeah, introduce yourself to anyone and everything, my co-prospie wasn't too into that but how else are you going to find out what things are like? I don't have much to lose, considering I'm probably going to University of Chicago next year, for a number of reasons but especially because I'm not really a reedie, and reed gave me terrible finaid. Karma!

Anyone else going Th? Anyone else from the east coast? Any current Reedies from the east coast? I'm visiting with my son. Any other suggestions for making the most out of the visit and making a (BIG) decision? He particularly wants to tour the nuclear reactor (probable physics major) and check out the art facilities.
Thanks!

Thanks, everyone! I'm a lot more excited now. And I am visiting during RAD so that should be good.
