Overnights?

I know Cornell has overnights, has anyone gone to them and think they're worth going to? From NYC it would cost me around $165 for transportation costs alone :( Are Cornell Days (non-overnights) just as helpful or do they not offer as much insight into the school (the "feel") as the overnights?

Thanks!

That’s pretty cheap. If you are going up, why not stay overnight and hang out a bit. I’m trying to urge a CA girl to make a trip, think of that cost. It will have to come straight out of her own bank account and that is a lot of money for a kid.

If you 're still deciding between schools, it maybe worth your time/money to go overnight hosting. Or just to go to Cornell Days overnight or not. Just to have a feel of the campus. My daughter is deciding between UCLA and Cornell, she’s flying to Cornell for an overnight hosting on the 14th.

But, if you’ve decided already, maybe not worth it anymore.

is overhosting fun?? How hard is it to go to parties (I am attending on a thursday night)

@lalaaloveex3 it is help as @2018dad said if you aren’t sure where you want to go. If you plan to go to Cornell days anyway, make sure to pick the day that has the most relevant information sessions/panels/tours/events for you so you can make the most out of it.

I stayed overnight at a hotel for Cornell days when I was accepted last year and there was barely enough time to fit in everything I wanted to know about Cornell (I had been hosted in the fall, which I found extremely insightful). I’m pretty sure if I hadn’t stayed overnight I wouldn’t have gotten to see everything I wanted to see.

@goblue2018 Hosts are not supposed to bring their hostees to parties or they could get in major trouble.
As for a Thursday night, there are quite a few parties that happen then.

I am not a big believer of over night, whether it is at Cornell or any school. You would have a good experience if you got matched up with someone who is like you, but otherwise you may get turned off. My older kid did an over night at one of her top choices, the girl she got matched up was into choir and she happened to have midterms next day. My kid was left by herself most of the time at her host dorm. If you have friends or relatives at Cornell, you maybe better off having them show you around.

“she happened to have midterms next day” I’m left wondering why she agreed to host someone the night before her midterms.
