Overshadowed by sibling?

My sister did overshadow me for a while until I began memorizing loads of random information, which makes people think I'm smart.

People used to think that we were twins and I got held back a year. In reality, we're two years apart and I skipped a grade.

I'm the wonder child of the entire extended family. It's not that fun.

I don't know, if it's all bothering you so much, why don't you just tell them about it? Or let them take the spotlight. This leaves you more room to explore and do your own thing.

A nice read on how to tackle the issue of getting overshadowed by a sibling. Hope it helps all.

[I</a> have a sibling who is much more intelligent and smart than I am. Somewhere I feel I’m getting overshadowed by his achievements and success. What should be my ideology so that I can deal with such a feeling in a positive manner? » AskNRJ.](http://asknrj.com/overshadowed-by-sibling-achievement-success/)

^ it’s kinda late to be giving advice since its been like five years.

Lol nikhil what were you doing on an 2008 post? Cute link, though.

I’m assuming you’re the younger sibling? I felt just like that because my sister is practically a genius. (Well, not literally…) Anyways, just don’t let it get to you and use it to push yourself to be better. That’s exactly what I did and now I have better grades than she did, is doing better in school than she did, and I’m even taking a math class next year that she’ll be taking in college next year. This is in no means trying to brag, but as impossible as it may seem, because believe me I thought it was impossible and was going through what you are right now, it will get better and it feels SOOOO good when you begin to catch up and even beat the older sibling. So use it to push you to be the best you can be and then you’ll see where it gets you!! :)

I kind of have the opposite issue. My older brother has a learning disability, and struggles with things that I find intuitive. I always feel guilty about it.
